We opened
the doors.

Empress Melbourne began in 2012 with a personal frustration: too many stores full of too many clothes, and nothing worth buying. So we started small — a handpicked selection of leather boots sourced from Italy, Spain and Turkey, chosen because they were exceptional, not because they were available.

It started with
a pair of boots.

That first edit grew. Labels were added carefully, one at a time, each one earning its place. Clothing, bags, jewellery, accessories, fragrance, wellness — built over thirteen years into a boutique we'd actually want to shop in ourselves.

We are one store. One owner. One floor, personally curated each season.

Our Philosophy

We pick.
We don't order.

Every piece on our floor has been personally selected by the owner — not a buying team, not a brand rep, not an algorithm.

That means our selection is intentional and limited. We carry a small number of pieces from each brand — the ones we believe are genuinely worth having. When something sells, it's gone. We don't reorder to fill a rack.
